Some thoughts...

Needless Rivalry

So as some of you may have noticed, I've started testing my skills with UF. Which has gotten me thinking of the rivalry between Apophysis and UltraFractal. Now I know this has been talked about before, but I would just like to vent a bit on the subject.

Alright, so you've got these two fractal programs, both amazing in their respective capacities. They can both be used to make wonderful fractals of two very different types. Now the way I see it, the fractal community has become (or always has been) rather divided on the programs... Apo artists tend to only fav and comment on other Apo works, and UF artists on UF works. Of course there are exceptions, but this is the general feeling I get.

Now I'm trying to get started with UltraFractal and I feel like I have to build a whole new set of watchers who will appreciate that. I just really wish there could be more appreciation of both programs from artists on either side. I will even admit to having been a little bit anti UF in the past myself, but that's changed over the past couple months as I've started really taking a look at some UF artist's galleries. The fact is: It's all fractal art... so why the polarity?

Anyways, I guess that's all I've got to say. I know there's nothing new here, but like I said, I feel like venting. I'm not used to writing this kind of thing either so, forgive me for the somewhat poor structure. :bucktooth:

Thanks for reading this far. =P

Well, in honor of my departure from pure Apophysis, I've decided to feature some non-apo fractals. :D

Yes, I feel the same way! My Apo works usually get more :+fav:s because my watcher base is hugely comprised of Apophysis users. It's hard for my UF images to get the same recognition, but I'm working on it. :giggle:

Well technically the Sterlingware one still belongs, all you said was non Apophysis xD

I haven't noticed that, but then again I haven't really paid much attention to that little detail myself, so...

Very cool features, and I look forward to future submissions
Thanks so much for the feature! :D
Gotta admit I'll love a fractal no matter how it was created...and I'll try any fractal program to see what it can do....(runs off to do a search for Sterlingware lol)

I agree! Considering only one program or the other is nonsense! They all produce wondrous fractals! :D

Where are my double personalities??!!?
It just really irks me that some of the well-respected fractalists (who shall not be named here) are soooooo snobby...I also use both Apo and UF. Each one has their strong points and produces very different work. I know that IFS flame fractals can be created in UF (ironically, one of the Apo detractors uses them a lot in their work) but UF does not support Apo 2.06 et cetera or any of the wonderful plugins. I really strongly believe that both can be used to create beautiful, aesthetically interesting, technically strong pieces.

The only reason I've touched only Apo was because it was free >.> I've always rather liked any fractal that I thought looked good. I think it was one of yours that I thought was a UF flame at first. Maybe I just don't see enough of those to really recognize them :P

A lil diversity like that never hurt, especially for this sort of thing, I think.
